St Sheelan's College of Further Education was founded in 2000, and is now North Tipperary VEC's only dedicated Further Education College. As a college for adult students, it is not like school.
The atmosphere in the college is one of partnership between students and tutors and respect for the different circumstances, interests and background of each student.
A notable aspect of the college in recent years is the great friendships that students have developed amongst themselves and with their tutors, and the amount of support and encouragement that they have given each other. They have regularly commented on the joy they found in learning new skills (and rediscovering forgotten ones).
The Student Council plays a central role in the college.
Our priorities are:
- To provide relevant courses with nationally and internationally recognised certification which will have currency in the marketplace
- To achieve excellence in teaching and learning
- To look after the educational and personal needs of our students.
Our greatest joy comes from seeing our students achieve what they wish for themselves.
