Message from the Principal
Welcome to the Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed section of the North Tipperary VEC website. Set in the leafy surroundings of Semple Stadium in Thurles, Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed is uniquely the only secondary school to provide a co-educational environment in the Thurles region. Ours is an educational setting that uniquely provides for secondary education through English and Irish, within the Gaeilge speaking immersion wing of our school, Gaelcholáiste na Siúire.
As we enter these turbulent economic times, I firmly believe that our school offers a distinctive and innovative approach to each and every student's education. We provide a forward thinking programme of study, offering 4 periods of P.E to our First Year students believing this is a key year in developing the good habits that in later life will fuel the proverb that ‘a healthy body fuels a healthy mind'.
We follow a firm approach to incorporating Information Technology into our curriculum with all 1st Years following specially designed programmes from Microsoft and Certiport. In addition, we provide daily class contact for core subjects English, Irish and Maths with the crucial State Exam years getting 6 periods a week.
Our campus is a safe and content college and we endeavour to keep it that way and we strive to provide our students with the best possible start to life and to instil in them the values that our school motto promotes; ‘Rath as Saothar - Success through Effort.'
