North Tipperary VEC's Adult Literacy Scheme supports adults who have difficulties with their reading, writing and basic mathematics or numeracy.
The Strategic Vision for the service is to provide quality adult basic education so that learners can become empowered to participate effectively in their family, their work, their community and the wider world.
Mission Statement
Our Mission is to ensure, where possible, that barriers to access are removed and that adult basic education programmes are relevant to learners needs.
Guiding Principles
The guiding principles which motivate all our activities include:
- The learner's right to attend on a voluntary basis and to set his/her own goals
- An ethical code of confidentiality, respect and trust will inform all aspects of the service
- Cultural differences will be respected
- Particular attention will be paid to creating and maintaining an atmosphere of social interaction, informality, and enjoyment within the service
- Learners will be enabled to participate in all relevant aspects of the service, including evaluation of the service.
