Assessment for FETAC Certification

There are four assessment periods in the year when FETAC facilitate Providers in offering certification to their Learners: January, May, August and November. To view the current FETAC Key Dates and Information for 2010 document, please click here.

When assessing Learners for certification, North Tipperary VEC is required to ensure the implementation of quality assurance policy B6 Fair and Consistent Assessment of Learners. Associated with this policy there are eleven procedures :

• B6.1 Coordinated Planning of Assessment
• B6.2 Information to Learners
• B6.3 Security of Assessment Related Processes and Material
• B6.4 Reasonable Accommodation
• B6.5 Consistency of Marking Between Assessors
• B6.6 Assessment Performed by Third Parties
• B6.7 Consistency of Marking with National Standards
• B6.8 Feedback to Learners
• B6.9 Learner Appeals
• B6.10 Return of Certification Data
• B6.11 Corrective Action

All those assessing Learners in programmes leading to FETAC certification at Levels 1 - 6 should be aware of what is contained in the above procedures.

The Quality Assuring Assessment Process
In addition to the above 11 procedures, centres offering certification to:

• Learners at Level 1 and Level 2 in January, May, August and November
• Learners at Levels 3, 4, 5 and 6 in January, August and November

must also implement FETAC's quality assuring assessment process. If you are unsure whether or not your centre is implementing the quality assuring assessment process, then please check with your Centre Manager.
